A pulley system is shown below. If weight A is following at 2 m/s, What is weight is weight B doing?

Solution

1) if the velocity of of A Va is 2m/s downward , then the velocity of B WB is 3time the velocity of A upward

                     Vb = Va *3   = 2 *3 = 6 m/s upward

2 ) if WA fell a distance La = 25 m , the weight B will cover 3 times the distance upward

                              Lb = 3 * La = 3*25 = 75 m upward in 2 seconds.

3) the accleration is the rate of change of velocity , if the velocity of B is 3 times the velocity of A in Upward direction, hence the acceleration of B is also 3 time the acceleration of A but in upward direction.
