The difference between data, information and knowledge are as follows:

Transaction Processing System: A TPS can be defined as a software system that supports transaction processing. This system involves collection, modification and retrieval of transaction data. It is also called as real-time processing. These softwares are used in accounting department of the companies.

Management Information System: MIS is a computer-based system that are used to evaluate and organize data efficiently with the help of some tools provided by MIS for managers to work effectively. It is easy to obtain daily reports from the system.

Decision Support System: A DSS can be defined as a computer application that is used to analyze business data and present it in a simple way to make decisions easily. These systems are used by top managemet in the organizations.
