How do you solve trigonometric functions like these 2cost2co

How do you solve trigonometric functions like these: 2(cos(t))^2-cos(t) = 0
If there is more than one answer enter them separated by commas.

Solution

2(cos(t))2-cos(t) = 0

==> cos(t) [ 2cos(t) - 1] = 0

==> cos(t) = 0 , 2cos(t) - 1 = 0

==> cos(t) = 0 , cos(t) = 1/2

==> t = (2n - 1)/2 , 2n - /3 , 2n + /3

hence solutions are t = (2n - 1)/2 , 2n - /3 , 2n + /3 , n belongs to integers
