what is the best source to learn control system, find the response and make the matlab simulation for a mechanical engineering students? I am lost .....

You can take any simple control systembook and go through the chapters. The first chapter will be giving the details of transfer function of a system ie. output/input of the system. the next chapter will explain how to make a mathematical model of a physical system. Then how to find the transfer function. Control system by Kuo is agood book

There are books which gives matlab coding of simple system. You may check in the library.
