Give your answer as a pair of xy coordinates but justify you

Give your answer as a pair of x,y coordinates, but justify your answer algebraically NOT graphically. y=10x-10 and y=4+2x

Solution

y = 10x -10 -----(1)

y = 4 + 2x ------(2)

Substituting y = 4 +2x in equation (1)

4 +2x = 10x -10

8x = 14 ----> x = 7/4

Substituting x = 7/4 in any of the two equation get value of y:

y = 4 +2*7/4

= 4 +7/2

= 15/2

Coordinates : ( x , y) ----> ( 7/4 , 15/2 )
