Comment on the experimentally measured peak voltage output v
Comment on the experimentally measured peak voltage output values between the half wave, full wave, and bridge rectifier circuits. THINK ABOUT THE DIODE DROP.
Peak Input
Peak Output
Half Wave Rectified
12v
11.2v
Full Wave Rectified
12v
11.2v
Bridge Rectified
12v
10.6v
| Peak Input | Peak Output | |
| Half Wave Rectified | 12v | 11.2v |
| Full Wave Rectified | 12v | 11.2v |
| Bridge Rectified | 12v | 10.6v |
Solution
1).In half wave rectifier only one diode used...so the droop of diode = input - output
= 12 - 11.2
= 0.8 V
2).In fullwave rectifier even used 2 diodes only one diode conducts for each cycle...
.so the droop of diode = input - output
= 12 - 11.2
= 0.8 V
3).for fullwave bridge rectifier two diodes conducts for each cycle of operation..
so droop of two diodes = 12 - 10.6
= 1.4
so droop of one diode = 1.4/2
= 0.7
