I think in this dispute Leinbinz- Clarke correspondense, which is a phylosophical, scientific debate I think Newton had won the debate. Firstly because Newton himself invented a new infinitesimal calculus and also elaborated it into a widely extensible algorithm. Secondly the Royal Society set up a committee to pronounce on the priority dispute, and Newton was finding favour and published as \"Commercium Epistolicum\".
