It is often observed that dogs lick their lips and body and this is known as licking.What is the actual physiology related to licking?One of the reasons could be a response to the change in the body\'s internal environment.This could be pain , hunger, act of cleanliness ,escape from nausea feeling,act of solicitation when mothers lick their babies after birth etc.The exact physiology should be related to the licking behaviour as this gives us a clue to the behavioural pattern in the animals e.g if it is about to bite us out of hunger, if it is in too much pain if it constantly licks a wounded part of its body or lick other dog\'s mouth so as to communicate with it.
