Two transporters are needed for secondary active transport o
Solution
correct answer is
a. Na+ : cotransport glucose
In the epithelial lining of midgut, and some other epithilial lining ike thse of kidney, the glucose is absorbed through the secondary active transport which is facilitated by Hydrolysis of ATP. while in other cells Glucose is generally transpotrted via facilitated diffusion.
This secondary active transport in the mdgut requires the establishment of a sodium gradient. so for this three sodium ions are pumped out from the cell causing sodium deficiency. Na+K+ ATPase enzyme catalyses this process. When sodim deficiency is created a gradient is established, So Glucoe is co transported inside the cells.
Once glucose enters the epithelial cells, it is then transported to blood stream though facilitated diffusion by GLUT transporter proteins.
