1) Describe how electrical current flows in the nervous system.

Solution

1.When both the positive charges and the negative charges flow in a system, then the electricity is produced. Our body cells too have two types of oins i.e,sodium ions and potassium ions. The amount of potassium ions are higher inside the cells than the sodium ions.Though the potassium ions carry negative charge,so the cell has negative charge. As the sodium ions are positive in charge the outside cell membrane is also positive. As there is not enough charge difference so the electric energy is not generated. When our body needs to send a message from one point to another it opens the gate. When the gate is opened the negatively charged potassium ions starts to move towards positively chargedsodium ions. When these two ions meet eachother an electrical impulse is generated. This impulse then moves to the brain from a nerve.
