What would the resting membrane potential be for this cell T

What would the resting membrane potential be for this cell?

To what would the membrane potential change if a drug was introduced that blocked the K+ leak channels?

To what would the membrane potential change from rest if a stimulus opened the Na+ ligand gated ion channels?

Which direction would Na+ move across the membrane if the membrane potential was 80 mV?

Which direction would K+ move across the membrane if the membrane potential was -80 mV?

Ton K+ Na [ECFI maM 143 LICF1 maM 138 Channel 800 1OO Ligand Gated Ion Channel 59O 48o

Solution

1. if Na+ ligand ion channel open, cl - in antiport system is observed

2.Direction would Na+ move across the membrane if the membrane potential was 80 mV :

At 80 mV , the Na+ ion concentration inside high so it pump to outside.

3.Direction would K + move across the membrane if the membrane potential was - 80 mV :

Negative sign refer to inside of the cell

At -80 mV, the Na + concentration is high outside of the cell. Intracellular Na + being pumped out to counteract any leaking back in.   The K+ concentration is high inside the cell from its passive diffusion to cancel the electrical potential

What would the resting membrane potential be for this cell? To what would the membrane potential change if a drug was introduced that blocked the K+ leak channe
