Spend 20 minutes searching for cool videos and watching them
Spend 20 minutes searching for cool videos and watching them on YouTube for some fluid flow visualizations. Search using a string consisting of a phrase like fluid flow visualization and add a method and an object/device. Methods: smoke, particle image velocimetry (PIV), laser sheet, hydrogen bubble, schlicren, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), etc. Object/device: Cars, jet engines aircraft, rockets, hearts, pipes, heat exchangers, carotid artery, etc. Choose one as the coolest. State the link address (or video title) and write a couple sentences about the video. Include the visualization method used and what the flow was of. Be ready to share 30 seconds of it in class on Friday with Smartphone, laptop, or tablet. (I assume everyone has some device, am I right?)
Solution
The following video is based on fluid flow visualization using a smoke tunnel and carbon dioxide on different objects such as car, pipes, aerofoil shaped blades. It tells about the streamline path followed by the smoke and point of seperation of the fluid on the object and about the vortices and wake formation behind the object after seperation.
