Solution

The genetic modification doenot not stops ageing or ripening of tomato completely, but only slows down the ripening proces. The antisense gene interferes with the synthesis of the enzyme polygalacturonase, thus lowering their production and not removes it. It just takes some extra time to ripe and eventually rot.
