For the hydraulic lift case shown calculate the required inp

For the hydraulic lift case shown calculate the required input force F1 (Newtons) and resulting output displacement x2 (mm).

Solution

Solution: As per Pascal\'s law the pressure is transmitted equally in both directions. This concept is used in Hydraulic lift as is shown in figure.

F1/ d12= F2 /d22 (Please don\'t confuse between F1 & F2 given in the question)

As per question:

5000 N/(0.15 m)*(0.15m) = F2 ( we have to find out)/(0.03m)*(0.03m)

F2= 200 N Answer.....

2nd part: We have to find out the displacement:

F1*x1= F2*x2

5000 N*x2 (we have to find out)= 200 N*0.03

x2= 1.2 mm Answer......
