A room has 8 fluorescent fixtures. Each fixture uses 3 fluorescent lamps totaling 150 W including the ballast. Its desired to switch on and off the center lamp of each fixture for a low level of illumination and the other two lamps by another switch for a medium level of illumination. Switching on all three lamps will provide the highest level. The switching shall be accessible from either of the two entries to the room. The room configuration, lighting layout, and switching location are shown in the floor plan. Determine the number of branch circuits required and prepare the branch circuit wiring plan.
** please note that I could not successfully upload the diagram of the room configuration and lighting layout, please just explain the step by step process on how to solve the problem
Solution
8 Flourescent Fixtures are to be fixed
3 Flourescents in each fixture
Center lamp is desired to switch on and off
Another 2 lamps are also to be controlled with a switch.
No, of branch circuit
Switch is accessible from the two rooms.
Now, 8 Fixtures require 3 bulbs with 2 controllers in 2 rooms.
That\'s 8 X 2 X 2 = 32 (No of Fixtures x No of switches/controllers X No of areas to be controlled)
If control is needed only centrally, That\'s combined all the room (Not for indivdual fixture)
We just need 2 X 2 = 4 Branches
