1 Three blue two red and five green balls are in a black bag

1. Three blue, two red, and five green balls are in a black bag.

B = The event a blue ball is drawn randomly from the bag

R = The event a red ball is drawn randomly from the bag

G = The event a green ball is drawn randomly from the bag

Calculate the following:

a. P(B) b. P(R) c. P(G)

d.P(B|G) e. P(R or B) f. P(G|G)

Solution

a)

P(B) = 3/10 = 0.3

b)

P(R) = 2/10 = 0.2

c)

P(G) = 5/10 = 0.5

d)

P(B|G) = 0 [it cannot be blue if it is green!]

e)

P(R or B) = (2+3)/10 = 0.5

f)

P(G|G) = 1 [if it\'s green, it\'s suerely green!]
