what are the three components of the extracellular matrix in conective tissue
Solution
The extracellular matrix in connective tissue is made up of 3 major components which are as follows -
1. Proteoglycans - -They are glycosylated proteins synthesized by action of glycosyltransferase and are highly viscous subtances responsible for cushioning of the cells. Eg. Heparan Sulfate, Keratan Sulfate and Chondroitin Sulfate.
2. Insoluble collagen fibers
3. Soluble Extracellular matrix proteins, Eg. Fibronectin and Laminin. These are glycoproteins which connects cells with collagen fibers in the extracellular matrix allowing cells to move through the extracellular matrix.
