Determine the voltage V_3 for the circuit shown and also the power absorbed/supplied by the dependent source.

Solution

consider left side loop current as i1, top loop current as i2 and bottom loop current as i3.

all the currents in clockwise direction.

apply kvl to loop current i1

-3+i1+4(i1-i2)+2(i1-i3)=0

7i1-4i2-2i3=3

from the circuit

i2-i3=1.8v3

i2-i3=1.8*1*i3

i2-2.8i3=0

apply kvl to loop currents i2 and i3.

-5+i3+2(i3-i1)+4(i2-i1)=0

-6i1+4i2+3i3=5

from the above equation

i1=5.376 amps

i2=7.346 amps

i3=2.623 amps

voltage v3=1*2.623=2.623 volts

power for dependent source=1.8*2.623*[4(i2-i1)-5]

p=1.8*2.623*[4(7.346-5.376)-5]

p=13.5976 watts.

 Determine the voltage V_3 for the circuit shown and also the power absorbed/supplied by the dependent source. Solutionconsider left side loop current as i1, to
