Does this function satisfy the hypotheses of the Mean Value

Does this function satisfy the hypotheses of the Mean Value Theorem on the given interval? Please give your reasons to your answer!

f(x)= x^(4/5) , [0,1]

Solution

Yes this does satisfy the hypotheses because the function is defined from [0,1] as there are no points that would cause trouble on the interval. It is also continuous because there are no jumps and it is just one continuous function as well as the fact that it is differentiable everywhere because we can find the derivative using the power rule which is 5/(4x^1/5)
