I have taken a long break from math and having a hard time remembering. I\'ll appreciate step by step solution =) .
Thank YOU
Solution
1) given S(x)=4x-1
put x+h in place of x
S(x+h)=4(x+h)-1
S(x+h)=4x+4h-1
subtract s(x) from s(x+h)
[S(x+h)-S(x)]=[4x+4h-1-4x+1]
[S(x+h)-S(x)]=4h
divide by h on both sides
[S(x+h)-S(x)]/h=4h/h
[S(x+h)-S(x)]/h=4
