The 10kg block is on an incline with negligible friction. The pulley may be considered a solid disk of radius 0.1m. If the 12kg block is released from rest determine the initial tension T and the acceleration of the 12kg block.

Solution

>> Considering 12 Kg Block

Let\'s acceleration of 12 kg block is \"a\" downwards

So, 12*g - T = 12*a

=> 117.72 - T = 12*a ...........(1)........

>> Considering 10Kg Block

Now, it\'s acceleration is \"a\" up the incline plane

=> T - 10*g*sin60 = 10*a

=> T - 84.957 = 10*a .......(2)..........

Adding (1) and (2),

=> 32.763 = 22*a

=> a = acceleration = 1.489 m/s2

and, from (1),

T = 99.849 N ........ANSWER.........
