Suppose a surface of the shape of a disk of radius 5 is subm

Suppose a surface of the shape of a disk of radius 5 is submerged vertically into water so that the center is 3 meter under the water. Find the force acting on the disk.

Solution

sol:

Force acting on the disk is nothing but buoyant force = density*g*h

density of water = 1000 kg/m^3

g = 9.81 m/s^2

h= 5+3 = 8 m

Force = 1000*9.81*8 = 78480 N = 78.48 kN
