This video works through all the constructions in the notes. Consider isosceles triangle PRO, where M is the midpoint of PO. (a) Describe a transformation that would map PR onto OR. Rotate PR 90 degree counterclockwise about point M. Translate PR along PO. Reflect PR across Po, then translate along PO. Reflect PR across RO. Reflect PR across RM. (b) what transformation would map Delta PMR onto Delta OMR? Rotate Delta PMR 15 degree about point R. Translate Delta PMR along RO. Reflect Delta PMR across PM, then rotate 90 degree counterclockwise about point M. Translate Delta PMR along MO. Reflect Delta PMR across RM.
Solution
a) Reflect PR across RM
b) Reflect triangle PMR across RM.
Because considering RM as Y axis with origin at M , it can be inferred that the reflection of point (x,y) across Y axis is the point (-x,y).
