In accordance with the equation r Ae QRT reaction rate incr
In accordance with the equation r = Ae Q/RT, reaction rate increases with temperature in solid-state transformation reactions & above specific temperature ranges. The plot below demonstrates the (percentage transformation) versus the (log |time) for an Austenite to Pearlite transformation, at 3 separate temperatures. Please explain if this particular transformation reaction follows the above equation, or explain why not? Either way, please be thorough.
Solution
>> From this graph too, with increase in temperature rate of transformation from pearlite to austenite increases
>> It is so, because when body is at higher temperature, then cooling at the start will be higher as compared to that in low temperature
>> So, as cooling takes place fast, thus rate of austenite transformation into pearlite increases.
