Thus, EDI is an perfect tool for an almost complete automation of an e-commerce supply chain process. As EDI is still a popular data-transmission format among major trading partners, primarily to automate repetitive transactions, it will continue in existence as these systems are doing exactly what they were originally designed to do and they are still meeting the needs of many firms.
