1)identify the real world process for which the business application is being developed.

2)model or mark the real things that participate in processes as entities.

3) now gather data related to those entities (I.e characteristics) as each of its attributes.

4)give unique name for each attribute within entity.

5) identify primary key attribute for every entity.

6) mark foreign keys if applicable.

7) now observe the business process flow to mark how the entities interact in real time and according note down a theoretical relationship description for each interaction along with attributes involved.

8)model the relationships using primary key foreign key mappings which are meaningful as per the description.
