Solution

f(x) = x^3 -2x^2 -6x+4

x = - 2 is root of f(x)

So dividing f(x)/(x+2) .The synthetic division is correct

we get x^2 -4x +2.Now solve this quadratic by using root formula

x = ( 4 + /- sqrt( 4^2 -8))/2

= ( 4 + /- 2sqrt2)/2 = 2 + / -sqrt2

So, x intercepts are x = -2 , 2+sqrt2 , 2 -sqrt2
