A resistance strain gauge with R120 ohm and a gauge factor o

A resistance strain gauge with R=120 ohm and a gauge factor of 2 is placed in a Wheatstone bridge at position R3 and all the resistances are equal to 120 ohm. If the maximum current through the strain gage is to be 0.05A then use a simple circuit analysis to determine the maximum allowable bridge excitation voltage.

Solution

Maximum allowable bridge excitation voltage is=I*(R2+R3)=0.05*(120+120)=12 Volts

Vmax=12 V
