Computational project Two identical circular coaxial coils e

Computational project. Two identical circular coaxial coils each of N turns and radius R are separated by a distance D along the central axis in the z direction. The two coils carry equal currents I in the same direction. Your goal is to design a coil system that makes the magnetic field as uniform as possible. Find numerically what the distance D needs to be so that the magnetic field at a point P halfway between the two coils is as uniform (in the z direction] as possible. Take N=300, R=5.0 cm, and I = 50 A. Design a double coil system (i.e., two sets of two coils] so that the magnetic field B is more uniform at P than your result for a single two coil system.

Solution

When Two Coils are very close to each other it will create some magnetic field between them.

to make uniform field between them its is required to fulfill helmholtz low .

it can be as per below:

                        Figure 2: Two Coils with Arbitrary Separation

For two coils, the total magnetic field is the sum of the magnetic fields from each of the coils.

                                                (2)

For Helmholtz coils, the coil separation (d) equals the radius (R) of the coils. This coil separation gives a uniform magnetic field between the coils. Plugging in

x = 0 gives the magnetic field at a point on the x-axis centered between the two coils:

for the radius of R = 5.0 cm ,

distance between Coils will be same as its radius .

which is 5.0 cm.

D = 5.0 Cm
