Gulf of Evaluation: The gulf of execution is the amount to which the system provide representations that can be directly identified and interptreted in terms of expectations and intensions of the user. The gulf of evalution is the difficulty of obtaining the state of the system.
Example:
If a person only wants to record a movie which is playing in live in VCR, then the person imagine that a \'record\' button should be pressed. But if the necessary action sequence involve specifying time of record and selection of channel there is a gulf of execution.
This VCR example is the design of the control of VCR should suggest how to be used and be easily interpretable. When recording, the \'record\' control should signal that it is activated.
