If a water-filled manometer is connected to a tank of O2, and it shows an 8-inch difference in water level, what is:

a. The gage pressure of the gas in the tank, expressed in Pa?

b. The absolute pressure of the gas in the tank, expressed in kPa? Assume that the manometer is at sea level, and that the pressure in the tank is higher than atmospheric (i.e. the water in the side of the manometer that is open to air is higher than the side that is open to the O2.

P gauge = density of Mano. Liquid * g * h

Density = 1000kg/m3

g=9.81m/s2

H= 8in = 0.2032 m

Pg = 1000*9.81*0.2032=1993.392 pa

P absolute = Patm+ Pg

Pa= 101.325+1.993=103.318 kpa
