Objectives:

As part of team to design a new parking meter, you are responsible to add a keypad input and LCD display for it. Detail of your task are:

a.Design interface to a 4 X 4 membrane keypad. Allow user to select time, payment method, etc.

b.Design interface to a 2 X 16 chars LCD to display money and time, etc.

c.There are other modules to the new parking meter (Coin reader, credit card reader, and ticket printer). They are other team members’ responsibility, not part of this project.  

Requirements:

1.Using mbed as controller, write the design document for the keypad and LCD display

2.Design the hardware wiring diagram

3.Design flow chart to describe the software functions of keypad and LCD display

4.Write your code to implement the interface to the keypad and LCD. It is recommended you use functions to implement the interfaces.

5.Write a simple parking meter main function to test interface to keypad and LCD

6.Interface to other modules are not part of this project. You may use //TO DO comment to hold space for interface to other module.

Note 1: Datasheet of the 4x4 membrane keypad .You may select your own keypad from anymanufacturer.

Note 2: You are required to select a LCD for the project.

Note 4: This is a design and programming project. No lab implementation is planned.

Solution

This can be done by using bridge rectifier in which we have to place timers, LEDs and write C progarmming.
