Convert the equation to the standard form for a parabola by

Convert the equation to the standard form for a parabola by completing the square on x or y as appropriate. y^2 - 4y - 2x - 2 = 0

Solution

y2 - 4y - 2x - 2 = 0

y2 - 4y = 2x+ 2

2x+2 +22 = y2 - 4y + 22   ( to make it perfact suqare add 4 to both sides)

2x + 6 = ( y-2)2

2 (x +3)= ( y-2)2 choice (b)
