Solution

Given a=1-0.95=0.05, Z(0.025) = 1.96 (from standard normal table)

So the lower limit is

(xbar1-xbar2) - Z*sqrt(s1^2/n1+s2^2/n2)

=(67.85-60.19)-1.96*sqrt(10.78^2/33+12.32^2/27)

=1.73

So the upper limit is

(xbar1-xbar2) + Z*sqrt(s1^2/n1+s2^2/n2)

=(67.85-60.19) + 1.96*sqrt(10.78^2/33+12.32^2/27)

=13.59
