Explain the differences in the process of adding two rationa

Explain the differences in the process of adding two rational expressions using the lowest common denominator (LCD) and adding them using a common denominator that is not the LCD. Include an example in your explanation.

Solution

you will get the same answer in both ways.

lets say you need to add 1/2 and 1/3
LCD = 6
So,
1/2 + 1/3
= (3+2)/6
= 5/6

When we don\'t take LCD, lets say we took 24
1/2 + 1/3
=(12+8) /24
=20/24
This is also equal to 5/6 if we divide both the numerator and denominator by 4
