Which of the following statements is FALSE choose one e Move

Which of the following statements is FALSE? (choose one) e Movement of ions can be excitatory (if sodium ligand-gated Channels bind the neurotransmitter), or inhibitory (if potaSSIum ligand-gated channels bind the neurotransmitter e uring repolarization, potassium ions are leaving the cell (K+ is diffusing out of the cell), and the inside of the cell becomes more negative e Myelin serves as electrical insulation and increases the speed at which an action potential travels along the axon e Voltage-gated sodium (Na+) channels open in the dendrites and cell body during a local, graded potential. e If someone damaged an efferent motor neuron, they could feel pain, but not respond to move away from the pain

Solution

Question 5

A) Movement of ions can be excitatory if (sodium ligand-gated channels bind to the neurotransmitter) or inhibitory if (potassium ligand-gated channels bind to neurotransmitters)

This statement is false

Postsynaptic membrane binds contain ligand-gated channels which has an ion pore. An excitatory or inhibitory signal is dependent on the type of neurotransmitter that binds. If the neurotransmitter is excitatory it binds and opens the channel to cause influx of Na+, K+ and Ca2+ ions inside to create an electrical impulse, the opposite happens in case of inhibitory, where the impulse is not generated.

Which of the following statements is FALSE? (choose one) e Movement of ions can be excitatory (if sodium ligand-gated Channels bind the neurotransmitter), or i
