1. If a z-test produces a test statistic of 1.76, the null hypothesis is Ho: 150 and the level of significance is .05; what would be the statistical conclusion?

2. If a t-test yields a test statistic of 2.45, the null hypothesis Ho: 100 and the sample size were 52. What is the p-value?

Solution

1) H0: 150

Ha: mu >150

Right tailed test for testing of mean

Z = 1.76

p value =0.0392

As p <0.05, reject null hypothesis

Accept mu >=150

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2) Degree of freedom = 52-1 = 51

t = 2.45

and this is a right tailed test.

p value = 0.008879

1. If a z-test produces a test statistic of 1.76, the null hypothesis is Ho: 150 and the level of significance is .05; what would be the statistical conclusion?
