Solution

What events that occur during prophase 1 have a major impact on the survival of species? Explain why these events are important.

Prophase I

In this stage of Meiosis DNA is exchanged between homologous chromosomes. This results in chromosomal crossover and new combinations of DNA created during crossover which is a significant source of genetic variation, The paired and replicated chromosomes are called tetrads, they have two chromosomes and four chromatids, with one chromosome coming from each parent.

There are the following steps which occur in Prophase-1

What is a notochord? Why is the development of a notochord important?

Notochord is rod shaped cellular part of body present in the embryos of chordates. It have the cells of mesoderm .It plays the main role in patterning of neural tube. In the neural tube the central nervous system develop which induce the development of brain and spinal cord. Notochord is responsible to differentiate the polar axis of human body which determines the embryo development information. It helps in determining the mouth, anus and rectum during embryo development. Notochord development start in early stage of embryo development.
