What is the critical issue?

What can be done about it?

Can excellence in project management still be achieved and, if so, how? What

steps would you recommend?

good cooperative project management culture, and even excellence?

What obstacles exist in getting marketing and engineering to agree to a singu- lar methodology for project management?

What might happen if benchmarking studies indicate that either marketing or engineering are at fault?

Should a singular methodology for project management have a process for the prioritization of projects or should some committee external to the methodol- ogy accomplish this?

Solution

Ans a) The critical issue was about the animosity between the functioning of the marketing and the negineering groups. There was no harmony betwene them in terms of operating which affected the business considerably.

b) There should be generation of mutual understanding betwen the teams and the focus should be built on the larger common goal which was the success of Clark Faucet. It shoudl eb understood that both the teams had to mutually put in their best efforts in order to make the operations of the company a successful one.

c) Yes, excellence in project management can still be achieved.

d) Steps should be taken in the sense that there can be a formation of a group which comprises the members of both engineering and marketing teams. The objective would be to bring in the common objective and the larger picture of the success of Clark Faucet with collective collaboration. There can also be the incentivisation of team members in order to keep them motivated about the work and cultivate methods of joint efforts.

What is the critical issue? What can be done about it? Can excellence in project management still be achieved and, if so, how? What steps would you recommend? G
