Which of the three ethics theories we studied in this course

Which of the three ethics theories we studied in this course (utility, virtue, or duty ethics) do you think ring most true for students who are enrolled in graduate business programs? Why?

Solution

I think virtue ethics ring most true as it emphasize on one’s good moral qualities rather than rules(duty ethics) and outcome of an action(utility ethics).

A success in business is measured by profitability, efficiency, growth which in turn depends on relationship with customers, trust of the investors or shareholders and employee satisfaction. Thus a long term success can be achieved by demonstrating moral virtues by the management/ firm. The measure of the virtue ethics lies in the integrity of moral values such as honesty, fairness, trustworthiness and compassion, which in turn helps in building good relationship with different stakeholders like: employee, investors and customers as the stakeholder respects qualities like honesty, transparency, fairness etc.. One can be successful businessman even without moral virtues but that will be a short term only.For long term success moral value is must required

So for students enrolled in graduate business program needs to build virtue ethics for becoming successful.
