3. If the Crude Mortality Rates are different, what rational explanation do you have for

the noted difference?

8. What is your conclusion based on reviewing the age-standardized mortality rate for

Alaska and Florida?

9. Do the age-standardized mortality rates represent the actual risk of death in the two states?

Explain.

10. What are the data requirements to conduct age standardization by the direct method?

Solution

Calculate the Crude Mortality Rates in Alaska and Florida in 2007

Alaska = 3463 / 683478 = 0.00507

Florida= 168096 / 18,251,243 =0.00921

Are the Crude Mortality Rates in Alaska and Florida similar or different?

DIFFERENT AS YOU CAN SEE IN LITERAL 1

3. 3. If the Crude Mortality Rates are different, what rational explanation do you have for the noted difference?

as you can see the population of florida is greater than alaska and also the number of deaths so is very easy to say that there are not the same value for the rates

What inference do you draw from reviewing the age-specific mortality rates of the two states?

I can conclude the same that i concluded in table 1 . there is more deaths in florida

5. Is this a better way to compare the mortality experience of the population in the two states

For a analysis of statistics I can say that is better compare the mortality experience of the population when you see table 2 because there is more information with other variable that is age of the people

for the others literals

I can gladly help you but you should post it in a new question
