Regarding compaction curves, what is the \"zero air voids\" curve? What is the difference between \"standard\" and \"modified\" proctor? What is a nuclear compaction test?

Solution

1) For a saturated soil, it gives the relationn between dry unit weight and moisture content. It is 100% saturation line.

2) Weigh of hammer in modified proctor test is more (10 lb) but in standard proctor test iti is 5.45 lb

number of layers in MPT is 5 but in SPT is 3

Number of layers are same

Height of fall is 18 inch. in MPT and 12 inch in SPT.

3) It is used to compact the soil using nuclear compact gauges. And it establishes the percentage compaction.
