The role of policy analysis in policy modification. Include brief descriptions of three federal agencies (GAO, CBO, and CRS) that support policymaking through policy analysis.
Solution
In policy modification, the main role of policy analysis is to observe the existing policies in various government sections. For example the role of GAO (Government Accountability Office) is to audit, evaluate and investigate the various services of the United State Congress. It is the supreme audit institution of the government. Thus, by observing the functioning of the congress modification in the policy can be made by doin the policy analysis.
Similarly the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) provides information about the budget and economic information to the congress. In the same manner Congressional Research Service (CRS) works exclusively for the congress and provide policy and legal analysis to the committee and members of both the house and Senate.
The policy analysis process allows any possible changes to be made in the existing policy and plan a course of action in the future regardin the policy. The changes in our society are quite imminent and frequent. Thus, with the constant changes happening in the society it becomes important to adjust the policies, so as to meet the needs and demands of the society.
It is also neccessary that the existing policies are continously observed and analyzed for efficacy and accuracy.
