One card is selected at random from a deck of 52. What is the probability that that card is a king or a queen?

Solution

There are 2 kings and 2 queens in a deck of 52 cards. Further we have

that Probability ( Any event )= Total favorable cases/ Total cases

HEre P( card being a king or a queen ) = P(K ing) + P(Queen)

Now P ( King ) =2/52 = 1/26

and P( Queen ) = 2/52 = 1/26

So P( King or Queen ) = 1/26 + 1/26 = (1+1)/26

=2/26

=1/13

so required answer is that probability that card is a king or a queen is 1/13.
