water begins draining from a 500cm tall container out of two
water begins draining from a 50.0-cm tall container out of two spouts, one 20.0-cm and the other 40.0-cm above the base. If the water level is maintained at 45-cm by an outside supply, find the velocities for the flow of water out of these two spouts.
Solution
As water level is maintaind at 45 cm so velocity of water flow below height h is
V1 = sqrt(2gh1)
height of first spout from upper end
h1 = 45-40 = 5cm = 0.05m
V1 = sqrt (2*9.8*0.05)
V1 = 0.99m/s
velocity from second spout is
V2 = sqrt(2gh2)
h2 = 45-20 = 25cm = 0.25m
V2 = sqrt(2*9.8*0.25)
V2 = 2.21m/s
