, in your opinion, why might teenagers care less about risk/rewards than they do about negative consequences?
Solution
Teenagers think less about risk factors or rewards. This is due to the fact that ventral straitum of brain which is also called as reward center of the brain is highly active in them. They have dopamine level at peak which is responsible for taking impulsive decisions for the sake of feel good factor. In highly active ventral striatum, less active prefrontal cortex and peak dopamin levels are make teens to care less about risk factors. The prefrontal cortex of brain is responsible for logical thinking and it functions at its best with increasing age. This leads to dominance of impulsive pulls of ventral striatum in decision making.
