Think about the plant cells and protozoa that live quite happily in fresh water ponds and streams with very low osmolarity. Think and describe at least one way the cells might be able to handle such extreme osmotic pressure without rupturing.
Solution
If the fresh water pond have very low osmolarity, then it will cause the water to entered in to the plant cell and thus the plant cell going to be more turgor.
The turgor pressure exerted by the cytoplasm to the cell wall resulting in the any of the two consequences. Firstly, the cell wall could not face the more turgor pressure and thus finally ruptured. Secondly, if the cell have to handle the extreme osmotic pressure without rupturing, the cell might change its shape in order to face the extreme osmotic pressure and the responsible organelle is cell wall. Another way to hadle the pressure, is to increase its size.
