How many inches apart will four bolts be along the circumference of the metal plate shown in the figure to the right?

Solution

Perimeter of metal plate = 3.14×diameter

= 3.14 × 2^n

Since bolt are equally spaced along the perimeter or circumference therefore distance between each bolt along circumference = 3.14×2^n/4 = 3.14×2^(n-2).
