Use a graphing calculator to graph the parametric equations

Use a graphing calculator to graph the parametric equations. Then find the equivalent rectangular equation. x = 3^t y = 3^-t - infinity

Solution

x = 3^t ; y = 3^-t

x*y = 3^(t-t)

x*y = 1

y = 1/x

x cannot be zero otherwise y becomes undefined

Also x= 3^t so, 3^t is always >0

So,   x >0 i.e.     0 < x< infinity

As x>0 ; y >0

Hnece : 0 < y < infinity

graph Option C
