1) Is it possible to define flows on either a host-to-host vasis or on a process-to-process basis. Describe the implications of both.

2) Give an example of how nonpreemption in the implementation of fair queuing leads to a different packet transmission order from bit-by-bit round-robin service.

Solution

1) host to host delivery means two nodes are communicating together computer to computer or computer or computer to server(source to destination), but in the case of process to process means two application are communicating eg user using gmail with the brower. in the case of host to host delivery the flow having the source and destination address but in the case of process to process flow having socket address(port and ip) cause port required to interact as tcp and udp protocol comes into play.

2) In case of round robin service sequence, repeat at a regular time quantum , but in the case of non preemption after one process completion only the other process can start so delay in response time or process execution can take place thats why you can\'t say non preemption algorithm are fair schedule as compared to round robin.

Eg: non preemption processes are not good in case of response time but in the case of round robin the average response time of processes is constant.
